Is Chantix right for you?

Chantix can help you quit tobacco. Find out if it's a good fit for you

You want to quit tobacco huh? Good for you - quitting is one of the best things you can do for your health over all.

Oral medicines like Chantix (varenicline) and Wellbutrin (bupropion) can make quitting easier.

You may be a good candidate for chantix if you smoke less than a pack a day. Chantix works by blocking the action of nicotine in the brain. Many people find that once the chantix builds up in their system, their nicotine cravings decrease, and when they do smoke it doesn’t give them the same satisfaction as before.

If you smoke more than a pack a day, your brain is used to getting a lot of that “action” and the chantix may not be strong enough to help you quit. In your case a combination of bupropion, patches, and shorter acting nicotine replacement (like gum, lozenges, nasal spray, and/or a nictoine puffer) might be a better route to help you quit faster.
